Lifeworks supports over 850 people w/ disabilities each day, providing and arranging 1,300 rides a day & traveling 426,000 miles each year!
Driving to and from work each day may not be the highlight of your day, but consider a world in which you could not drive yourself to work – how would you get there?
Transportation is a privilege that many of us take for granted, but for people with disabilities who cannot drive themselves, the key piece of the employment puzzle is safe transportation to and from their jobs each day.
At Lifeworks, our goal is to find employment for people with disabilities in the community, and enabling them to get to their jobs each day is a critical service we provide for those individuals and the companies who have hired them.
Take a moment to see the impact of the Lifeworks team employed at Key Surgical in Eden Prairie in this video.
Now consider the difference in the lives of the Lifeworks associates – and each person at Key Surgical – if the Lifeworks team didn't have transportation assistance to and from work.
Each day, Lifeworks provides and arranges over 1,300 rides to the people we support – to and from our program locations and to and from work. Together, our fleet of 33 vehicles drove over 426,000 miles in 2010 alone!
As a service provider, Lifeworks does receive some money for our transportation services from the government, but in 2011 we will need an additional $500,000 beyond our government funding to ensure the 850+ people we support have safe and reliable rides each day.
Help us continue to provide this critical service to people with disabilities. With your support you can help enhance the lives of people with disabilities – allowing them to contribute their talents through meaningful employment throughout our community.
And today you have the opportunity to ensure the work of Lifeworks continues to impact the lives of real people in our community.
